Re: Delegation of DDM Instructor and Assistant Instructor
Since the establishment of Divine Dharma Meditation 20 years ago, Thay and Co have been working continuously to develop the discipline and to convey the teachings of Divine Dharma to people around the world. To this day, the discipline of DDM is expanding strongly and steadily. Genuine members are practicing cultivation earnestly and devoting themselves to serve for the goodness of all. The number of dedicated practitioners is growing encouragingly. Overall, our discipline has accomplished so many wonderful achievements and we have brought many practical benefits to humanity.
With this uplifting momentum, it is essential to meet the increased demand for qualified instructors with profound abilities to convey the teachings of DDM to the general public. Throughout the years, Thay and Co have provided students with profound spiritual teachings and moral guidance that help students awaken to the significance of a spiritual life. Thereafter, students aspire to dedicate themselves to cultivating virtue, merit, and wisdom. At the moment, there are advanced students who have been very conscientious in their cultivation, and they have acquired for themselves a solid spiritual foundation. They are now qualified to be promoted to the level of the DDM Instructor. At the same time, there are also members who have been very enthusiastic with their cultivation as well as helping others. However, their understanding of the Dharma and their spiritual growth are still limited. For the time being, these members are not well equipped to take on the responsibility of an instructor because they have not yet developed sufficient spiritual knowledge and essential abilities to guide and teach others. Please be aware that choosing the right candidates for instructor level training is a very important matter that must be well considered. Thay and Co love all students. However, for the purpose of maintaining the integrity of our discipline and the authentic teaching of Divine Dharma Meditation, Thay and Co cannot choose students who have not yet developed sufficient spiritual foundation to become an instructor. This is mainly to avoid the problems of misinterpretation of the teachings and improper practices in the future.
The principles and objectives of Divine Dharma Meditation are to guide people toward the path of eliminating suffering and achieving Liberation in accordance to the Divine Will of Heaven. So, we need to train a group of qualified instructors who are bright, with exceptional character and dedication to take on the responsibility of guiding ordinary people toward spiritual cultivation in order to remove their own suffering by themselves. We hope that all students will be more conscious of your own abilities and responsibility. May you continue to serve for the grand mission of our discipline as much as you can! In so doing, you will ascend forward unceasingly even though you are not at the position of teaching others.
The discipline of Divine Dharma Meditation is expanding so fast that Thay and Co may not be aware of all students who are in fact wishing to advance further… In this case, if you are high-level students, who have acquired adequate seniority and training, and now you do wish to become an instructor of DDM, then this is what you should do. You should first make a pledge to the Higher Beings that you will dedicate your best effort to altruistic service and be willing to help DDM training classes locally or aboard. Next, you should have a meeting with the executive members of your local meditation center for suggestions and advices. The director of the meditation center will write a letter of recommendation to Thay and Co. We will consider each case individually to see whether the recommended student may be qualified for becoming an assistant instructor of DDM.
The training classes for instructor level will be held sometime in May of 2016 at the Seattle Center. After Thay and Co have received all letters of recommendation from the centers, we will make our final decision and inform the centers about the list of qualified candidates for the instructor and assistant level. The dead line for the letter of recommendation to be sent to the Headquarters of DDM is 29/02/2016.
